This week work in the church is occurring with concentrated effort. Much of the carpeting has been removed as well as the old (dry rotted) altar platform and choir risers.
Design work is approaching the final stages for the new sanctuary ‘foot print’.
The timeline for the reupholstering and refinishing of the pews is nearly established. The cleaning and sealing of the walls and ceiling will start soon.
The carpet company was here this week and is checking on availability of the color and quality of the carpet selected.
Work is progressing on a recommendation if it is better to retrofit the current fixtures with more energy efficient lighting (perhaps LED) or replacing them with new fixtures. We should have that info this week if all goes well.
In the future this update will not be on the ‘front page’ of the website but on a link. I suspect now that work is begun in earnest in the church itself the reports will be more of sharing what is continuing rather than new work.

Fire at St. Alphonsus Church
There was a fire in the church on 12/24. Part of the church was damaged by the fire, other parts of the building were damaged by smoke and water. The eletricity, heat, water and phones are all off. More information will be provided later.
