Director of Teaching and Learning
Hello, my name is Marita Thiele. St. Alphonsus as been a home to me for 9 years in various capacities. For the last 2 years I have been the Director of Teaching and Learning.
A typical day includes, reading with students, popping into classrooms, and meeting with students/ teachers individually. There is so much variety each day in my schedule that it always stays interesting.
I grew up in the small town of Platteville. I received my Bachelor’s degree in communications and psychology at UW-Milwaukee. After moving to Michigan, I completed my Master’s degree in special education at University of Detroit- Mercy. I started at St. Alphonsus in the 3K room which required me to complete my early childhood certificate at Alverno College. I believe in continual learning to be at my best for our students everyday.
I spend my free time being active. I also enjoy family time together on our boat, trying new restaurants, and listening as our children share all their life experiences.
St. Alphonsus holds a special place in my heart as two of our four children grew to be strong young men under the care of these superb teachers.
