5th Grade Teacher
Hi, my name is Linda Sokup.
I have been teaching at St. Alphonsus for 4 years. I taught 6 gr. Math and 7th/8th grade Science for 3 years. This year, I am teaching 5th gr. Science, Social Studies and Language Arts. I have taught in public schools most of my 34 years as a teacher as well as St. Greg’s Parish School before my 4 years here.
I grew up in Burlington, Wisconsin and went to St. Mary’s Grade School and High School; which is now Catholic Central High School. I received both my Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Education/Special Education and my Master’s of Professional Development focused on Middle Level teaching from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. I received additional certifications at the University of Wisconsin Madison.
My husband, Mike and I live near Alverno College in Milwaukee. He had three children and we now have 5 grandchildren. They, like anyone who is grandparent, give us much joy. Even with the distance of Colorado and Minnesota we manage to stay connected as a family. We’ve been lifelong dog owners but have recently put down a dog so are deciding what our next pet will be. I enjoy gardening, reading, cooking and traveling to visit grandkids.
St. Alphonsus Parish School is a blessing to all of us. We have a rare degree of high involvement from our parish priests, Fr. Aaron and Fr. Britto. The students really know these two men through their involvement and conversations with our students.
Students are the life of the building and what make our school shine. Our work with them is to bring all of them to their fullest potential and as a teacher it gives me great pleasure in seeing the steps in the process of each accomplishment.
