Physical Education Teacher
Hi, my name is Kris Halwas.
I graduated from Carroll University in 1999 with a degree in Physical Education with a Health minor. I have been teaching Physical Education at St. Alphonsus for 19 years.
I grew up in Muskego with my amazing parents, 2 brothers and a sister. I knew from the time I was little that I wanted to be a teacher. In High School, I decided to become a Physical Education teacher. My PE teacher encouraged me to join track where I found great success and developed great friendships. I loved physical education growing up and I wanted everyone regardless of their athletic ability to love my class.
In my 19 years at St. Alphonsus I have built great friendships with the staff and have come to love the kids I teach. I truly enjoy coming to work each day. I like the variety of teaching all of the different grades and watching the kids bloom from K4 to 8th grade. Watching the kids have fun and find joy in being active is one of the best parts of my job.
I was recently remarried to my husband Mark. Together we have 5 adult children. Mat (30) lives with his wife Sera in Delafield, Spencer(27) lives with his wife Caitlin in Mukwonago, Lissa(25) is our world traveler and right now is in Australia with her boyfriend Marcus, Morgan(25) works for corporate Walgreens and Mckenzie(20) is in school in New York.
Mark and I love to renovate our duplex and also love to go antiquing. We have a place up north and spend a lot of time there in the summer. We recently adopted a bulldog/cocker spaniel puppy named Juni, who keeps us very busy. Mark and I love spending time with our kids and watching them create their own lives.
I feel blessed to be able to teach at St. Alphonsus. I have wonderful friends, co-workers, students, and parents. I can't imagine being at any other school!
