7th and 8th Grade Teacher
Hi! My name is Holly Ligocki.
This is my sixth year of teaching, all of which have been at St. Alphonsus School. I teach 7th Grade Math, Pre-algebra (for 7th graders and some 6th graders), 8th Grade Math, and Algebra (for 8th graders and some 7th graders), and 8th Grade Religion. I am also the faculty advisor for the 8th Grade Musical and the faculty coordinator for the bi-annual 7th and 8th grade trip to Washington D.C.
After my father retired from the U.S. Air Force, my parents moved to Greendale where I was enrolled in the Greendale School District for grades 7 through 12. I went on to Marquette University where I majored in Accounting. After 27 years in the business world, I felt called by God to become a teacher. I earned my teaching license through Alverno College’s Licensure to Masters program. I believe God placed me at St. Alphonsus since my ties here run deep. I have been a parishioner since I was twelve and was confirmed and married here. In addition, St. Alphonsus is the parish at which all three of my children were baptized, my older two children were confirmed, and my oldest daughter was married.
My husband teaches 6th grade Science at Greendale Middle School, and we enjoy comparing notes about our respective teaching experiences. Our daughter Bethany and son-in-law Matthew live in Minneapolis with their three children, with a fourth child due in July. Our son Eric lives in Los Angeles. Our daughter Andrea is a sophomore at Greendale High School. Besides spending time with my family and close friends, I love to read, watch movies, attend theatre performances, eat chocolate, and take a long walk in the woods.
I’m very proud to be a teacher, particularly at St. Alphonsus School. I love being able to talk about our Catholic faith with my students, and feel privileged to be a part of shaping their lives.
