Hi, my name is Amy Schermetzler and I'm so excited to be the librarian at St. Al's. I have a lifelong passion for reading and am thrilled to bring that enthusiasm to the students here.
I grew up in Plymouth, Wisconsin and met my husband during college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. We both attended Catholic schools growing up and our two sons, Matthew & Jack, both attend school here at St. Al's. Our family loves watching sports, spending time together outside and at our cottage, and playing board games/doing jigsaw puzzles.
I am an avid reader and enjoy reading a wide variety of diverse literature. I pride myself in reading all genres, but my favorites include literary fiction, mysteries, & thrillers, and historical fiction. I also love narrative non-fiction, true crime, and of course, middle grade and young adult! In 2020 I read over 150 books and I am on track to read close to 200 titles in 2021. Often I am reading multiple books at a time, both in print & on my kindle as well as audiobooks. I am excited to be breathing new life into the St. Al's library, expanding our collection, and sharing my love of reading with our students with fun recommendations, themed weeks and months in the library, new displays and activities, and more.
