General Information / School Policy
Please refer to the 2007 - 2008 Parent / School Handbook for detailed information AbsenceParents are requested to call the School Office at 414-421-1760 before 8:00 am, stating the reason for a student's absence. If a student has attended in the morning and does not return for the afternoon, please call the Office before 12:15 pm to report the absence. Parents picking up or dropping off students for appointments, must check in with the Office first. Students may only leave with the adult persons registered on the student contact list. Students absent from school due to illness part of all of the day, may not participate in extracurricular activities in the evening. Getting InvolvedThere are a number of ways for parents to get involved with the School. School Committee: This committee is comprised of . Check the calendar for the dates of meetings throughout the year. Visitors are Welcome. Home and School Association: Membership in this association is strongly encouraged. Check the calendar for the dates of all Home and School meetings throughout the year. During the year, all are encouraged to participate in the major fund drive. Volunteers: Please consider sharing your skills to assist in keeping the school running efficiently. Some areas to volunteer in may include: assisting in the School Office, repairing things, typing, supervising special projects, or helping with celebrations. Contact the office to find out how you can become a volunteer. National School Lunch ProgramWe are working to assist in providing a hot lunch program that will not only continue to offer quality lunches for our students, but also will be more affordable for our school families. Current hot lunch prices are $2.25 per hot lunch. Families meeting specific income levels may be eligible for free or reduced hot lunch rates. Families choosing to apply will need to get the proper information and application forms from the School Office. If you have any questions, please contact the office. Inclement WeatherSchool closings will be announced by radio stations: WOKY, WISN, or WTMJ. The general rule to follow is: "If the Milwaukee Public Schools are close because of weather, so is St. Alphonsus School." Please do not call the School or Rectory for this information. In the event that St. Alphonsus School would be closed due to an emergency, and the Milwaukee Public Schools are open, staff members will contact the school families by telephone. School Hours
School lockers are available for use by 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. School MissionThe St. Alphonsus School Community is committed to the spiritual and academic education of children. TardinessTardy students must check in the School Office with a parent. Students who continue to be tardy will be given a consequence. Additional tardiness will be referred to the appropriate authorities and follow up measures will be taken. |
